The October wind awakens the kites from their summer break: We invite you to make Shibori kites together. The paper is dyed using a traditional Japanese paper dyeing technique. Afterwards, you can release your self-designed, colourful kites into the air at the nearby kite mountain.

Public guided tour

Experience our current exhibition Mona Hatoum during a public guided tour. In the exhibition, a selection of around 30 works provides an overview of Hatoum’s work since the 1980s. Also on view are a number of new works that respond to the site and its architecture.

Dr. Kathleen Reinhardt becomes new director

Dr. Kathleen Reinhardt is taking over as director of the Georg Kolbe Museum in Berlin. The cultural scientist and art historian with a doctorate and current curator of contemporary art at the Albertinum of the Dresden State Art Collections will take up the post in December 2022. More information can be found here.

The museum café Benjamine provides from 10 to 18 o’clock for all visitors for the physical well-being: Cake, soup and salads from natural/organic ingredients are served with good weather now also outside on the terrace.

Kolbe's Kiez: An Audio Walk for Berlin's Westend

Directly surrounding the Georg Kolbe Museum, the built environment and architecture tell of experiments with different lifestyles and of discourses on urban history. They can now be explored with the app Kolbes Kiez, which is available for iPhone and Android. More information is available on the project website Kolbe außer Haus (Kolbe Outdoors).
