‘Body without Body’ is a group exhibition of works by contemporary Israeli artists, curated by Tel Aviv-based artist Liav Mizrahi. He comments on his motives for developing an exhibition concept that takes into account the special context of the Georg Kolbe Museum as follows: ‘The personal experience during my stay in Berlin and the experience in front of Georg Kolbe’s sculptures made me think about the representation of the body in contemporary art. The exhibition ‘Body without Body’ draws attention to abstract sculpture inspired by the body or the objects associated with it. The body can appear as a fragment or disappear completely. The body is an organ that remembers, recalling global and local, private and collective events. The exhibition opens up a space for these intertwined body images.’
