Artist talk with Leonor Antunes

Leonor Antunes (born 1972) creates sculptures and installations that allow the space itself to be experienced as a central component of the artwork. She often works with materials such as rope, leather, wood, brass and textiles, using craft techniques such as knotting, weaving and sewing. Another important aspect of her work is her exploration of often overlooked female designers, architects, and artists of the modern era, such as Anni Albers (1899–1994), Lina Bo Bardi (1914–1992), and Lygia Clark (1920–1988). In the current exhibition Creating Space: The Constructivist Marlow Moss . With Leonor Antunes, Tacita Dean, Florette Dijkstra and Ro Robertson, the Portuguese-born, Berlin-based artist is showing an immersive installation created especially for the exhibition. She will talk to the exhibition’s curator, Dr Elisa Tamaschke, about her artistic practice and its relationship to the work of Marlow Moss.
