Art and Law. The Estate of Tilla Durieux in Zagreb

Tilla Durieux was an actress of the century who had to live in exile in various places in Europe from 1933 onwards. She spent much of the war years and the post-war period in the former Yugoslavia until her return to West Berlin in 1957. A partial estate from her former place of exile, Zagreb, was acquired for the Akademie der Künste in Berlin through the support of the Kulturstiftung der Länder. It contains autographs, photographs and extensive correspondence and shows Durieux’s connections with the artistic avant-garde of her time. In the event, it will be presented and historically as well as legally situated in the context of a lecture and panel discussion.

Welcome: Kathleen Reinhardt, (Director of the Georg Kolbe Museum) and Stephanie Tasch, (Head of Funding at the Kulturstiftung der Länder)

Lecture: Antonija Mlikota (University of Zadar) (in English)

Talk: Jutta Braun ( Head of „Regime des Sozialen“, Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History Research Potsdam), Ruth Lecher (lawyer, Co-initiator of the conversation series „Kunst und Recht“), and Werner Heegewaldt (Director of the Archive of the Akademie der Künste) (in German)
