Lecture at the Einstein Forum, Potsdam

The artist duo EVA & ADELE have been known since the 1990s for their lifelong performance art. EVA & ADELE “come from the future” and “Where we are is a museum”, asserted the duo, with their shaved heads and ever-extravagant matching outfits. With Eva’s death in 2025, the performance came to an end, but Adele continues the work in their shared name. The exhibition ‘everybody’ features several works. They reflect on the absence of a performance that not only questioned but also subverted gender conventions and role expectations. With a text collage, Adele invites visitors to a performative reading. The curator of the exhibition everybody, Eva da Silva Antunes Alves, will begin by introducing the work of EVA & ADELE and the context of the exhibition, which explores bodies and their freedom.
