Contemporary Puppetry

Puppetry students at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts have been exploring the movement possibilities of Oleksandra Exter’s marionettes, which were originally created for an unrealised film project by Peter Urban Gad in 1926. As they were never „activated“, the digital 3D version of one of the marionettes created by the students is an outstanding opportunity to experience the figure „brought to life“. The students‘ research is artistic practice and knowledge production at the same time.
