The Georg Kolbe Museum launches the new research and lecture series From the Margins. Rediscovered Lives from Archives. It is dedicated to the life and work of extraordinary personalities from the broad field of the visual arts who, for a variety of reasons, have been forgotten and pushed to the margins. The opening lecture by Dr Elisa Tamaschke is dedicated to Rom (Romuald) Landau.

In the Panorama series, changing guests contribute their expertise and curiosity and open up new spaces for discourse on art in dialogue with the public. Dirk Hauska, instructor for health-orientated strength training and Feldenkrais teacher, offers a movement lesson using the Feldenkrais method in the museum rooms.

As part of the exhibition, students from the „Contemporary Puppetry“ diploma programme at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts will develop possibilities for a digital animation of a marionette by Alexandra Exter. The resulting work will be ceremonially included in the exhibition on 11 January and explained and contextualised by the students and teachers in a discussion with the audience.

Tetyana Filevska, creative director of the Ukrainian Institute in Kiev, curator and cultural activist, specialises in the period of the Ukrainian avant-garde. In her lecture, she will talk about the painter and stage designer Oleksandra Exter, who grew up in Kiev and whose expressive marionettes are world-famous today.
