Sculptures and photos capture living beings in motion. As participants in the Workshop for Girls, you will bring the artworks in the Georg Kolbe Museum back to life – in the here and now. Using dance, performance and elements of visual art, you will interpret themes that also move you in everyday life and creatively deal with questions of identity, gender roles and stereotypes.

At the entrance to Georg Kolbe’s former sculpture studio, you are currently greeted by Thomas Schütte’s „Vater Staat“ (Father State), a monumental sculpture from 2010. Denying the function of a benevolent doorman with the formal tradition of classical monuments, the sculpture opens an exhibition that holds diverse messages and art historical references. An evening tour through the exhibition.
