Performance Finissage Leiko Ikemura – Witty Witches

For the closing weekend of the exhibition „Leiko Ikemura – Witty Witches“ the exhibition space will be occupied by a performance choreographed by the artist especially for the exhibition. The dance work consists of three parts, which are titled „grace of time, great memory of earth“, „trees that dance“ and
„wind breath, lucid beings“.

Performers Riko Sugama and Hanako Hayakawa will perform the choreogrphy in the former sculptor’s studio and central exhibition space. Riko Sugama is an award-winning master of Ryukyu, as well as the associated traditional singing and instruments. Ryukyu Byo, is a traditional dance that originated in Okinawa, Japan.
Sonoko Kamimura started her career as a classical ballet dancer at the Reiko Matsuoka Ballet Studio in Nagoya and completed a bachelor’s degree in contemporary dance at the Codarts Hoogschool voor de Kunsten in Rotterdam.
Hanako Hayakawa studied contemporary dance at the P.A.R.T.S. dance school in Brussels and works as a dancer and performer in Berlin, Tokyo and Brussels.
